Entry and visa requirements

Holders of Diplomatic, Public Affairs and Service Passports issued by the PRC will continue to be exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 30 days in Singapore as per current treatment.

Holders of all other travel documents issued by the PRC must continue to apply for an entry visa before travel into Singapore. These include the PRC Travel Document, Hong Kong SAR Document of Identity (DOI) and Macau SAR Travel Permit.

A Singapore visa is not an immigration pass. It is a pre-entry permission for the holder of a valid visa to travel to, and seek entry into, Singapore. The grant of an immigration pass will be determined by the ICA officers at the point of entry. The period of stay granted is not tied to the validity of your visa.

Travellers are advised to refer to further entry requirements at ICA’s website prior to travelling to Singapore.

Visa application fee 

With effect from 1 Feb 2017, all Authorised Visa Agents in China charge a fixed visa fee of RMB 300 for a Singapore visa application.

The fixed fee is inclusive of the visa processing fee of SGD 30 payable to the Singapore Government and a service charge payable to the Authorised Visa Agent. The visa application fee is non-refundable.

Please approach our Authorised Visa Agents [PDF, 312 KB] for your visa application. The Singapore Embassy in Beijing and our Consulates-General in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xiamen have ceased walk-in visa applications with effect from 8 Dec 2014.

Documents required for visa application

You will need to provide the following documents to the Authorised Visa Agent, in support of your visa application. Additional documents may be required when necessary.

1. Form 14A (Visa Application Form). Original form, duly completed in English, and signed by the applicant.

2. Passport. Original passport and a photocopy of the applicant’s passport bio-data page. The passport must have at least 6 months’ validity (from the intended date of arrival in Singapore).

3. Identity Card. Original and a photocopy of the identity card.

4. Passport-sized photograph. One coloured photograph, taken within the last 3 months, sized 35mm wide by 45mm high without border, against a plain white background. The photograph must be taken at full frontal view (face should not be cropped and facial features should not be obscured).

5. Letter of Employment (if employed). Original letter from the employer [stamped with company’s official stamp, and signed by a relevant personnel], granting leave of absence and stating:

   • The applicant’s particulars, duration of employment, designation, and salary

   • The company’s name, address, and contact information

6. Certificate of Bank Deposit (if unemployed). Original certificate issued within 1 month of the visa application. There is no minimum amount of money required on the certificate of bank deposit. Other documents proving your economic capabilities may also be accepted.

7. Student Certificate (for students). Original letter from the school [stamped with the school’s official stamp, and signed by a relevant personnel], or original and photocopy of the applicant’s student card. For students pursuing higher education in China, obtain a verification report (with QR code) from CHSI (学信网).

Some applicants may be required to provide additional documents, such as a Letter of Introduction.

Submission of visa applications

Visa applications must be personally submitted to the Authorised Visa Agents by the applicant, except for minors under 18 years old and other authorised applicants.

If you have a local contact (a Singapore Citizen/ Permanent Resident), he/she may also submit a visa application for you online at ICA’s e-Service, using his/her Singpass account.

Visa processing time

The processing time for a visa application is generally 3 to 5 working days (from submission of all required documents to the Authorised Visa Agent). Some applications may take a longer time to process.

Collection of visas

You will collect your e-Visa directly from the Authorised Visa Agent.

You may also check on your e-Visa via the “Enquire Application Status” function on ICA’s e-Service, using your visa application reference number and your travel document number.

You are strongly encouraged to print out and bring along your e-Visa when travelling to Singapore, to minimise inconveniences with the airlines and immigration authorities.

Important notices

1. Every visa application (and the duration of visa granted), is considered on its own merits and subject to approval.

2. Applicants may be required to provide additional supporting documents not listed above, on a case-by-case basis.

3. Applicants are advised to purchase their flight tickets only after their visa application is approved.

4. Applicants are advised to submit their visa applications 2 – 3 weeks prior to their intended travel. If the visa application is submitted too early and the validity granted had lapsed prior to the intended date of travel, a new visa application will need to be submitted.

5. Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Grant of entry and of an immigration pass will be determined by the ICA officers at the point of entry. Visitors must also meet other entry requirements such as having sufficient funds for the length of intended stay in Singapore and confirmed onward/return air ticket (if applicable).

6. Visitors are required to submit their SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arriving in Singapore, via ICA’s e-Service.

7. With effect from 11 Mar 2022, no ink endorsements are given on passports. An e-Pass stating the duration of stay granted will be emailed to visitors at their email address submitted on their SG Arrival Card.

8. Overstaying is a punishable offence in Singapore. Visitors who wish to stay beyond the duration of stay granted may make an application to ICA to extend their stay (subject to approval), via ICA’s e-Service.
